Translators appeal to the Catia community

A Theorem Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 18, 2005

A series of recently developed products designed specifically for the Catia community will be demonstrated by Theorem Solutions for the first time at the Catia Operators Exchange.

A series of recently developed products designed specifically for the Catia community will be demonstrated by Theorem Solutions for the first time at the Catia Operators Exchange in Phoenix, Arizona between 20th and 23rd March 2005.

Most interest is expected to be generated by Theorem's ground-breaking JT to Catia V5 translator, which has been developed specifically to close the loop between JT for visualisation and design in context.

By allowing complete and accurate translation from JT to the CAD environment, Theorem's latest CADverter significantly extends the format's potential; enabling visualisation data to be used for many downstream processes, including - for the first time - CAM and analysis applications.

Theorem's focus on this development has been triggered by the increasing popularity of Unigraphics' JT format, not just for visualisation within business applications, but because it is increasingly becoming a "de facto" standard for data exchange within many areas of the automotive industry.

Promoted by the JT Open initiative, JT format has been adopted by a number of OEMs as an attractive method of exchanging data; especially where it is employed to assist "design in context" within collaborative engineering environments.

With unique functionality that opens the way for this data to be employed in other downstream applications, Theorem's translator is certain to be a major attraction at COE.

Other Theorem products on show at the event will be the company's latest Catia to/from Pro/E translators and Catia translators to/from UGNX, which far exceed the capabilities of simpler Parasolids translators.

In addition, visitors to the Theorem booth will have the opportunity to preview an advanced process manager, a previously undisclosed Theorem product, in the final stages of development.

Theorem's Managing Director, Stuart Thurlby said: "COE is always an important event on our calendar".

"This year, it not only allows us to gather valuable feedback on the key issues facing Catia users world-wide, but also enables us to bring new levels of added value to our many users throughout the Catia community".
