Texcel wins orders for processing control system

A Texcel Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 21, 2001

Texcel Technology has won two orders worth £1.3m to manufacture, configure, test and install control systems for Thermo VG Semicon's advanced semiconductor epitaxy processing machines

The equipment represents the complete electrical and electronic sub-system for high reliability MBE systems used in the manufacture of the latest generations of high speed GaAs devices for communications applications.

Texcel's flexible batch-oriented EMS approach is critical in enabling Thermo VG Semicon to reduce product cycle times, and thereby respond more quickly to variations in demand from the cyclical semiconductor industry.

In addition to manufacturing and testing a wide range of constituent PCBs, hardwired racks and modules, Texcel will be undertaking all electrical configuration and testing to meet individual end-user requirements, including the installation and integration of each 1.5 tonne console with its precision semiconductor processing system, at Thermo VG Semicon's facility.

As Texcel's MD Peter Shawyer observes, "This exemplifies where we believe the EMS market is going.

We become part of our customer's production team, not just a supplier.

Texcel is responsible for a complete, installed and working solution, right down to the 250 custom-built control, monitoring and power cables necessary for each system.".
