A major West Africa telecommunications company has chosen Texcel Technologies' Vision and VSys remote monitoring solutions to manage its switch centre and basestation infrastructure assets.

The first phase of the project is installed and operational and immediate benefits include improved operational performance and efficiency, with detailed fault analysis and trending.

The Vision data acquisition unit manages the DC power, monitors the AC mains supply, generators and diesel usage, air-conditioning, tracks temperature and humidity, and other critical elements.

The VSys management system is used by multi-disciplined support staff were each user has a selected view of the installed network, with drill-down real time displays of the remote site.

Repair priorities are formulated based on clear and accurate information, with the root cause of the problem clearly identified in advance.

The customer is now rolling out the solution to all its remote cabins totalling in excess of 1500 sites.

With the new energy saving features built-in to the Vision system, savings of over $1 million will be achieved each year.
