TFC has introduced a versatile new low profile, one-piece quarter turn captive panel fastener from ITW Fastex that can be used over and over again.
TFC has introduced a versatile new low profile, one-piece quarter turn captive panel fastener from ITW Fastex that can be used over and over again.
This fastener offers a low cost alternative to metal latch designs.
The moulded one-piece construction reduces the number of inventoried parts, while its captive latch fitting prevents any misplacement of parts during installation and assembly operations.
The fastener installs quickly and easily by inserting its grommet end into a prepared, punched square hole in both the removable panel and fixed structure of an assembly.
The plunger is then driven into the grommet by striking the head of the fastener with a hammer.
As the plunger enters the grommet, two prongs are spread out, securely locking the two panels together.
To separate the panels, a small moulded handle is inserted into a slot on top of the plunger and, with just a quarter turn twist, the grommet compresses back to its original size allowing the removable panel to separate from the fixed structure.
The fastening grommet meanwhile is held securely in place in the removable panel ready for reuse over and over again.
Manufactured from non-corrosive, non-conductive and non-hydroscopic Acetal and rated for 90lbs tension and 125lbs shear, the new fastener is ideal for a wide range of industrial and manufacturing applications including metal enclosures, computer servers, medical equipment, telecommunications cabinet and photocopying equipment.
