TFC springs accommodate metric specs

A TFC Europe product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 3, 2008

TFC Europe has announced the launch of a new series of springs in its Smalley range.

The new-metric sized springs are being introduced to accommodate European sizing manufactured for metric specification.

Crest to Crest Wave Springs are manufactured in sizes as small as 6mm and will now be available for a host of new applications using the metric standard where the imperial-sized versions were not suitable.

Applications using metric bores and shafts are now fully serviced by the new metric sizes, opening up a wealth of opportunities for industry to realise the benefits of the Crest to Crest spring.

Crest to Crest Springs are available from stock in carbon spring steel and 17-7 stainless steel but can be manufactured in exotic alloys if required; their size and strength demonstrate further potency.

As they are manufactured from a continuous coil of single filament pre-tempered, round edged flat wire, the springs have a unique advantage over round wires springs in the form of assembly space.

They can maintain the same force and load specifications, yet occupy 50 per cent or less of the axial space.

As a result, they allow lower operating heights, free heights and solid heights when being used to replace coil springs, making them ideal for the tightest load/deflection specifications.
