The acquisition of RMB Engineering Services extends the scope of Deritend's business with additional machining, fabrication and engineering capacity.

In a deal concluded on 8th May 2007, national maintenance services provider the Deritend group acquired gearbox and power transmission specialist RMB Engineering Services The deal extends the scope of Deritend's business with additional machining, fabrication and engineering capacity

New service branches in Dundee, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich also increase the group 's geographical coverage.

Since an MBO in March 2001 the intention of the Deritend group board has been to grow the business.

While an initial focus on developing core business areas and achieving growth in new service sectors has resulted in increased profits, acquisition is the next strategic step towards a total maintenance service offering from the Deritend group.

Richard Hale, MD the Deritend group comments, "This acquisition is part of Deritend's strategy to enhance its mechanical engineering skills base, underpinning plans to move the Deritend group further into the provision of onsite engineering solutions supported by world class service centres".

"RMB strengthens these capabilities, particularly in respect to gearboxes, machining, fabrication and distribution".

"Deritend will continue to search for acquisitions that compliment the asset management and energy efficiency strategy that drives the company's growth".

The new enlarged group is expected to generate new job opportunities for skilled machinists, fabricators, mechanical fitters and maintenance personnel at all levels.

The existing management team will remain in place at RMB, continuing to apply their experience and skills to the business.

Existing RMB customers will now have access to the entire Deritend group resource.

Ian Davis, Deritend Sales Director adds, "It is a well used phrase, but there is a tremendous synergy between the two businesses that will strengthen the Deritend group as a whole; the 24/7 service philosophy will remain, covering electrical and electromechanical equipment with contracted minimum response times and overnight repairs also available".

Deritend employs sophisticated maintenance management software that can be used to list and provide visibility of assets, schedule and plan maintenance procedures and order Deritend services online.
