THK has released details of a new series of four high performance lubricants, AFA, AFB, AFC and AFE, which has been designed to maintain the smooth, efficient movement of the company's LM Guide products over a long operating life Formulated to suit a wide range of linear motion applications, the lubricants extend the period at which the guides need re-lubrication, maintain high precision performance and reduce the need for maintenance procedures

THK has released details of its adaptable GL linear actuator range, designed to provide cost effective linear motion even for high speed applications of up to 3000mm per second.
The first of the new lubricants, AFA, is a moisture resistant, high grade synthetic grease with a low viscosity, which reduces the rotating torque of ball screws and ball splines to minimise heat generation.
In common with all THK lubricants, AFA grease has a long service life, several times that of conventional metallic soap grease, for more cost effective performance.
Operating in temperatures from -45øC to +160øC, AFA grease features a low start-up torque values at low temperatures and offers excellent mechanical stability, even in the presence of moisture and coolant products.
Combining a refined mineral oil and a lithium thickening agent, AFB grease is ideal for normal applications.
The grease offers excellent mechanical stability and significantly greater wear resistance than conventional lithium grease.
AFC grease offers excellent anti-fretting and anti-corrosion characteristics, which prevent bearing degradation in guides affected by slight vibrations during operation.
AFC grease retains good performance over a wide operating range from -54C to +177C and is also safe for use with rubber parts.
With exceptionally low dusting properties, AFE grease is ideal for use in clean operating environments, such as those required in vacuum applications.
Again offering an extended service life, AFE grease also incorporates a special additive to help prevent the formation of rust.
All four lubricants are available in a choice of 400g or 70g tubes, the smaller size fitting directly into THK's MG70 grease gun.
The gun comes complete with a range of fittings which can simply be inserted into the grease nipples incorporated on the company's LM guide blocks, which greatly simplifies the periodic replenishment and replacement of lubricant.
