THK is building a new production facility at Alsace in France.

This is the first production facility in Europe, which will produce the THK range of LM Guides.

The new site encompasses 120,000m2, with an initial production area of 16,500 m2, which is set to increase over the next four years by an additional 90,000 m2.

Production at the facility is scheduled to begin in April 2001, creating employment for up to 600 people.

THK is known as an innovator in precision components for mechatronics.

Founded in 1971, THK now employs 4000 people worldwide and has an annual sales turnover of £308 million.

THK LM Guides create high precision movement, and are becoming an indispensable component in modern machinery and systems.

In Europe, THK operates from European headquarters in Germany, with offices in the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Austria and Sweden, with more offices planned throughout Europe, assisted by THK's European distribution centre in Holland.

The new French facility is being established to serve the growing European Market for linear motion systems.

Toshihiro Teramachi, President of THK Europe is delighted with the expansion planned, "The development of the new manufacturing facility will ensure continued and improved service, development and innovation for our European clients.

I am looking forward to the challenge of bringing THK products to an ever wider market.".
