Silent ballscrew offers impressive performance

Following the worldwide success of its Caged Ball technology LM Guide Systems, THK has launched the SBN ballscrew with Caged Ball.

By including Caged Ball technology in the SBN, THK has created a whole new generation of ballscrews, which give the highest possible performance, offer increased lifetime, extended maintenance intervals and smooth running, with low fluctuation of torque.

The system also guarantees silent operation, typically in the region of 5-6 dBA lower than conventional ballscrews.

The SBN ballscrew is particularly suited to high speed applications.

While conventional ballscrews are often limited by a DN value of 70,000, the SBN can be used up to DN values of 130,000, with the return pipe needing no inserts to guide the balls and the return of the balls being achieved in tangential direction.

A range of accessories are available to further enhance the performance of the new SBN ballscrew, including THK's unique QZ lubrication system, that allows for significantly extended maintenance intervals with reduced usage of lubrication.

Furthermore, a new 'wiper ring' sealing system is also available.

Due to an integrated spring mechanism, the wiper ring is always in contact with the surface of the shaft, wiping off dust and moving it away by a slotted outer ring, offering effective debris management.

The new THK SBN ballscrew is lubricated with THK's special 'AFG' grease, which reduces temperature rise.

In tests, when comparing ballscrews with a diameter of 32mm rotating at 3000 rpm, the temperature reading of the new SBN was reduced by 13C.

The THK SBN ballscrew is the latest addition to a range of products which is not only the largest in the world, but also combines high performance with economy and environmental compatibility, in a harmonious way.
