The new caged ball SHS LM Guide, which has become a global standard, achieves exceptionally high speed, low noise, maintenance free operation.
Linear actuator covers 100mm to 2700mm
THK has released details of its adaptable GL linear actuator range, designed to provide cost effective linear motion even for high speed applications of up to 3000mm per second.
The new VLA linear motion solution offers a number of benefits over traditional pneumatic solutions including the elimination of oil mist lubrication and air venting noise, resulting in a cleaner, quieter and more energy efficient system.
Furthermore, when combined with an AC servomotor, the VLA linear actuator is capable of providing high movement at speeds up to 1000mm/s.
Lightweight and compact, the new VLA is available in two specially designed models - the VLA-CT cylinder type and VLA-ST slider type - each available in three different sizes.
The VLA-CT incorporates a feed rod that is driven using a ballscrew and exits the aluminium profile in a manner similar to that of a pneumatic cylinder.
The ballscrew is equipped with the QZ lubricating system and laminated contact scraper (LaCS) to prevent dirt particles from penetrating the device.
The VLA-ST is also driven by a ballscrew that moves the slider on an SRS type caged ball linear motion guide; a stainless steel cover strip is incorporated to protect the interior of the system.
The VLA-CT provides a maximum continuous velocity of 600mm/s with an applied force of 402N, whereas the VLA-ST is designed to produce a velocity of 1000mm/s with a continuous force of 267N.
In addition, the VLA-ST can carry a maximum horizontal payload of 30kg and a vertical payload of 10kg, with a maximum acceleration of 3m/s2.
Both the VLA-CT and VLA-ST have operating lives of 5000km and repeatability of +/-0.020mm.
Offering high levels of flexibility and designed to be easy to install, the new VLA range can be used in conjunction with a wide range of motor types.
A range of options such as base attachment brackets, flanges and couplings is also available.
