Courses help brush up IT skills
December sees the start of a series of courses by the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC) in Birmingham, to help everyone advance their IT skills.
Starting his career as a Rolls Royce apprentice, Rayson gained extensive engineering experience in the machine tool, automotive and aerospace sectors.
This led him into higher education teaching and, subsequently, to consultancy with McDonnell Douglass Information Systems in the USA.
A specialist in CAD/CAM/CAE (computer aided design, manufacturing and engineering) and product data management (PDM), Rayson went on to become Vice-President of Worldwide Aerospace Operations for Computervision and Senior Vice-President for the Parametric Technology Corp in charge of industry marketing.
With an MSc in manufacturing technology from UMIST and a BEng in production engineering from UWIST, Rayson was most recently Senior Fellow with Warwick University's Manufacturing Group.
Dr Barry Henley Chief Executive of the tic says of Peter Rayson's appointment: "We are delighted to welcome Peter as a senior member of our team.
At Warwick he has been acting as head of research into the interactions between technology, process and human capital development in the generation of added value in businesses.
With our plans for the tic in its role as a technology interface between education and industry, Peter's expertise and experience will be invaluable".
