Courses help brush up IT skills
December sees the start of a series of courses by the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC) in Birmingham, to help everyone advance their IT skills.
Howe has a Masters Degree of business administration and has been Chief Executive of MG Rover Group and Group Chief Executive of Pheonix Venture Holdings since 2000.
He began his career with Michelin Tyres as a Management Apprentice in 1977 and, by 1984, had progressed to become an Information Systems Analyst.
In 1985 he moved to General Electric (USA), and from there, in 1988, he began his long association with the Rover Group.
His first post there was as International Systems Manager and then held many senior commercial, logistics and manufacturing director positions, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director of Small and Medium Cars in 1997.
He then became Managing Director of Rolls Royce Fan Systems Division, rejoining the MG Rover Group in 2000.
MG Rover is an independent, medium sised, British owned company with around 6100 employees.
It designs, engineers, produces and markets the MG and Rover brand cars from its Longbridge headquarters in Birmingham, a site where vehicle manufacturing has taken place for 100 years, the original Austin company having been founded there in 1905.
It also owns Powertrain, which produces engines and transmissions for K series petrol engines for Rover, MG, Land Rover, Lotus and many other companies.
It will come as no surprise that Howe, who is a family man, is also a sports enthusiast with a particular penchant for fast cars.
