UCE Birmingham's Technology Innovation Centre is holding a seminar where SMEs can learn how they might participate in the current upturn.

December sees the start of a series of courses by the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC) in Birmingham, to help everyone advance their IT skills.
Following a 0730 BST breakfast, Accelerate's Allen Matty will explain how AutoZone, a new ERDF-funded project, can help West Midlands companies win business on some 267 new vehicle introductions and facelifts, estimated to be worth GBP 500 million, between now and 2010.
TIC is already delivering an Accelerate technology transfer programme in which close to 200 automotive supplier-support projects are available to eligible SMEs.
Matty's introduction will be followed by presentations from TIC technology transfer team describing the support it offers in terms of design, manufacturing processes and workforce up-skilling.
Companies seeking TIC's help under the existing Accelerate scheme will have the advantage of the TIC Business Solutions team's extensive knowledge of world-class manufacturing technologies across multiple market sectors.
Hundreds of Midlands companies in the automotive sector have already benefited from TIC's technology transfer expertise through its leading role in a wide range of schemes.
As a result new technologies, and the skills to apply them, have been established in SMEs across the region.
Managed by Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and funded by Advantage West Midlands and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Accelerate uses established partners such as TIC to deliver funded assistance to automotive supply chain companies in the Region.
TIC is also a leading member of the West Midlands Technology Network and delivery partner to the Manufacturing Advisory Service (West Midlands).
This TIC breakfast seminar concludes at 0945 BST with a further hour or so allowed for discussion and networking.
