Guides need little or no lubrication
A new series of ultracompact stainless-steel linear guides is manufactured from 440C stainless steel and requires little or no lubrication.
Industry is increasingly demanding miniature linear guides that offer high accuracy and longevity in order to enhance production efficiency and increase competitive advantage This is particularly the case in the semiconductor, medical and laboratory industries where small products are manufactured and often tested at continuous high speed

Thomson design engineers have developed a new range to address these specific industry needs.
The new series of ultracompact stainless-steel linear guides, which is called the MicroGuide family, are manufactured from 440C stainless steel and require little or no lubrication.
Accuracy is ensured by utilising the proven Gothic Arch ball groove geometry.
This ball bearing configuration provides extremely smooth, whisper quiet, single rail operation in addition to high precision accuracy of up to +/-0.1mm.
End users and OEMs will be interested to know that the new Thomson MicroGuide family have been designed to industry standards as "drop-in" replacements using the same hole pattern as existing guides.
Initially the MicroGuide family will be available in 5, 7, 9 and 12mm although it is expected that this range will be expanded in the future.
The 5mm MicroGuide is clean-room and vacuum compatible.
Future announcements are expected shortly as a result of Thomson's aggressive new product development programme that aims to supply the broadest selection of linear guide types available from a single supplier.
