The new Danaher Motion Movopart M50 linear actuator builds on an original design specification which was first introduced in 1995.

The new Danaher Motion Movopart M50 linear actuator builds on an original design specification which was first introduced in 1995 The improved performance of the new M50 reflects the experience and expertise that resulted in the M50 being voted "Plant Engineering's product of the year award for power transmission products"

Now seven years later Danaher Motion has found that there is an even greater demand for a cost effective product in this size.

The simplicity of design and inherent reliability of this product has proven to be ideal for OEM applications where a large number of products are sold at competitive prices.

The new M50 has found a niche market in scanning and printing equipment specifically in scanning paper/plastic film production.

Another Danaher Motion M50 success is the product's use in "cut to length" equipment in the window industry although the product is also being currently used in a wide variety of applications.

Following a detailed review of the original design together with a large amount of customer feedback a number of key design enhancements were incorporated in the new M50.

One such example is the improvement in the saddle design, which is now produced as one piece instead of several components.

As a consequence the saddle can be produced in high volumes at lower cost.

The drive end design has been greatly improved to accommodate the installation of both the drive shaft and drive shaft bearings.

It is improvements of this nature that has resulted in an overall reduction in parts and an increase in flexibility, particularly for customised shaft designs.

The M50 redesign has also resulted in a more rigid product, boasting the same or higher performance data than the original product but with a longer life.

Danaher Motion claims to have successfully consolidated the position of M50 as the leader in its market segment.

Current customers should note that Danaher Motion has not changed any important dimensions, so the new M50 fits in the same size envelope as the original.
