New from Thomson Airpax Mechatronics is the series 44M100D high-torque 44mm permanent-magnet stepper motor.

The new lightweight (80g) motor, which is powerful, precise and quiet, was specifically designed for limited space applications.

Capitalising on its thin profile and high torque to inertia ratio, engineers have found this stepper to be the ideal candidate to use where space is at a premium - although applications are virtually unlimited: some examples include electronic component delivery systems, medical fluid management and dispensing, and medical and pharmaceutical packaging, assembly and test.

The 3.6-degree step angle motor (100 step/rev) measures only 44mm diameter by 12mm long.

Available in bipolar version only, this high efficiency motor (44M100D1B) easily produces 30mNm pull-out torque at 150pulse/s, when driven with a chopper drive (24V DC, 0.4A/phase).

Consistent with Thomson Airpax Mechatronics' focus on satisfying customer needs, the 44mm motor was designed for automated assembly friendly to modification.

Flexibility exists in accommodating different options, including mounting/lead egress positions, changes in coil design, and different bearing configurations to satisfy unique environmental operating conditions.
