DC motors with open controller adaptability
The Thomson Airpax Mechatronics TAM 58-2A- Industrial Series is a new family of brushless DC motors that can be configured to mate to the customer's drive electronics.
The Thomson Airpax Mechatronics TAM 58-2A- Industrial Series is a new family of brushless DC motors that can be configured to mate to the customer's drive electronics and combine 9-slot stator and 12-pole rotor construction design to deliver constant speed in a compact package.
The motors provide open collector Hall effect sensing and tachometer feedback to the customer's own electronic controller.
The TAM58-2A - Industrial Series consists of three standard motor lengths for maximum power output: 81mm long with output power of 47W; 89mm long with output power of 60W; 94mm long with 90W output power.
State of the art design offers exceptional performance without the need for exotic magnet materials.
For applications requiring even greater performance, options include windings customised to meet exact power requirements, and/or easy upgrade to high-energy magnets, such as neodymium.
This brushless motor is ideal for customers who either specify or design their own brushless motor control electronics.
It is also best suited for applications where remote driver/controller electronics are located on a customer's motherboard.
Totally enclosed in an all-aluminum case, the TAM58-2A- Industrial Series motors conform to the IP44 construction as well as the Nema Size 23 mounting standards.
Because they work well in damp, dusty and harsh environments and are designed with maintenance-free ball bearings for long life and high reliability, they are ideal for use in industrial applications, eg automated conveyor systems, bar code labeling, printing, pumps, valves, machine tools, and agricultural equipment.
Rated torque for the TAM58-2A - Industrial Series motors ranges from 157mNm at 2895rev/min to 295mNm at 2975rev/min, and weight ranges from 720 to 910g.
Other features include: a patented 5V square-wave output tachometer that delivers 45pulse/rev as low as 100rev/min without distortion; low instantaneous speed variation (ISV) due to outside spin rotor; and an industry-standard Size 23 mounting pattern configuration interchangeable with hybrid stepper motor.
