Thomson Industries has developed a range of self-lubricating RoundRail linear guides that offer maintenance-free operation.

Thomson Industries has developed a range of self-lubricating RoundRail linear guides that offer maintenance-free operation The advantages claimed for this patent-pending option, available now on both Thomson ProfileRail and RoundRail linear guides, include: maintenance-free operations; reduced system cost by eliminating the need for expensive lubrication systems; increased bearing life by offering enhanced protection; and the elimination of environmental pollution associated with oil lubrication

According to Scott Schuler, Director, Linear Guides Sales and Marketing, "Thomson's design includes an oil-saturated polymer, custom-made to fit the shaft that is installed on each end of the bearing inside the double lip seal.

A contact spring keeps the sections in contact with the shaft as the bearing moves.

This ensures a constant film of lubricant between the balls and races.

This self-lubricating property means re-lubrication is not necessary in most applications, thus making Thomson's option truly maintenance-free".

The oil-saturated polymer incorporated into the linear guides has been proven in use for over 10 years to offer maintenance-free operation in radial bearings.

The product has a successful track record in applications ranging from food processing to automotive assembly.

Thomson Industries linear guides are available off-the-shelf.
