Servos gain more communications options

A Danaher Motion product story

Danaher Motion has enhanced the connectivity of its Servostar drives by offering SynqNet and EtherCAT interface cards.

These communication cards are plug and play, simply fit the required expansion card in the option slot of an existing Servostar S300 or S600 drive and the drive will communicate as required.

This development stems from Danaher Motion's support of open technology.

Servostar drives can already support Profibus DP, Sercos, DeviceNet or Ethernet using similar option cards and onboard CANopen is already provided.

Option cards such as motion controllers and I/O expansion are designed to suit every application.

Simple resolvers through to absolute sincos-encoders can be used to provide feedback, standard interfaces such as ABZ are supported in addition to EnDat.

The latest development is the BiSS-Interface, available as standard in the Servostar 300.

This fully digital, bidirectional and nonproprietary feedback interface supports high speed data communication with short cycle times.

It is robust, and immune to interference, supporting high precision encoders with inexpensive four-wire cables.

SynqNet expansion cards allow the drives to co-ordinate complex multi-axis control, creating a system ideal for pick-and-place, medical and ATE (automated test equipment) applications.

Danaher Motion is able to specify and supply complete motion systems, with synchronous servomotors, drives and important accessories such as prefabricated cables, gearboxes and power supplies available from a single source.
