Slotless motors reduce inertia

A Danaher Motion product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 15, 2007

22mm brushless motors provide fast acceleration and deceleration thanks to low inertia and a low mechanical time constant.

The latest range of 22mm brushless motors from Portescap weigh just 94g each and provide 50W power at up to 73,000rev/min.

They operate at a cool 25C and quiet 55dB noise level, and promise inertia as low as 0.23mmg2 - a 10% inertia reduction compared with previous, similarly sized motors from Portescap.

Additionally, a new internal design reduces motor length by 10% and vibration by as much as a 400%.

"Portescap's new 22mm brushless motors with slotless technology are a perfect complement to our 16mm models, and are an ideal solution for maximising the comfort of patients who use bilevel respirators", says Dave Beckstoffer, Portescap Product Manager.
