The winners of top North West manufacturing awards will be leading a masterclass in Manchester later this month to reveal how they achieved their success Siemens and Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics UK, both category winners in the Accelerating the Transformation Awards 2004, are among the presenters at the 24th February event run by The Manufacturing Institute

A team of three managers from Congleton-based Siemens, which also won the overall title of North West Manufacturer of the Year, will be leading masterclass sessions on the company's award-winning use of innovation and skills development.

Among the team will be Simon Nadin, Manufacturing Manager with the electronic control systems manufacturer, who commented: "The knowledge and experience we've gained can be applied across industry and we are delighted to be able to share it with our fellow manufacturers".

The masterclass also includes a session led by Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics of Skelmersdale on sustaining continuous improvement, for which it won a category award, as well as others being led by Excellence North West and the diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton.

Graham Canning, master practitioner with The Manufacturing Institute, will be chairing the masterclass at the Institute's Salford centre.

He commented: "This will be a great opportunity for companies to learn more about applying lean manufacturing processes from the practical experience of the awards winners".

The event will also mark the launch of The Manufacturing Institute's 2005 awards scheme - with the winners being announced at a gala dinner in November.
