A day-long manufacturing masterclass will mix real life case studies from manufacturing leaders such as Jaguar and Honeywell with practical workshops.

Every manufacturer wants to be able to achieve peak product performance at a lower cost - the question is, how to go about it Companies that have found the answer are sharing their insight at a one-day masterclass in Manchester on Thursday 8th September 2005

The day-long event is being run by the Manufacturing Institute and will mix real life case studies from manufacturing leaders such as Jaguar and Honeywell, with practical workshops to apply what has been learnt during the day.

It will highlight the importance of value management tools and techniques that can typically drive up to 25% cost out of product manufacture.

Examining the winning methods used by global leaders like Ford, General Motors, IBM, Dell, Whirlpool and Texas Instruments, delegates will learn how to squeeze out cost by applying joined-up lean practice to the design and manufacture of new and existing products.

Says Mark Stone, Head of the Innovation and Investment team at the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) North West, which is delivered by the Manufacturing Institute: "Many companies are squeezing waste out of their processes, but fewer are scrutinising the waste in their products".

"Our masterclass will demonstrate how to drive up to a quarter of the cost out of products without any loss of function, quality or reliability".

Thanks to support from the MAS North West, subsidised places at the masterclass are available to North West manufacturers.
