New panel PCs from Trident Microsystems deliver the scalability of flexible ETX technology, high integration for embedded applications, and short time to market through off the shelf modules The Trident Genesis series of panel PCs facilitate design of embedded applications requiring a state of the art human machine interface (HMI), including kiosks, retail equipment, industrial automation and access control

Trident ETX-compliant CPU boards for Genesis panel PCs allow designers to select CPU performance, system chipset, display chipset, VGA/LCD interface, and optional TV output on selected modules.

Trident has already configured six Panel PC models that are now available off the shelf.

Developers can choose from Pentium III 800MHz, Via Eden 667MHz, Transmeta Crusoe 800MHz as well as 12.1 or 15in TFT-LCD panels with four-wire resistive touchscreen.

Among the extensive I/O support provided by the standard system base boards, there are four USB 2.0 ports, plus Ethernet and audio ports, plus 5 and 12V DC outputs.

There is also plentiful swappable storage, including support for CD-R/W, DVD, DVD-ROM formats or a combination drive.

A 2.5in hard disk drive bay is also provided.

Further interfaces provided include CompactFlash type I/II socket, and two PCMCIA type I/II slots.

PS/2 interfaces are also included, allowing conventional keyboard and mouse controls.

The 12.1in panel is 800 x 600 resolution, with a 120 degrees viewing angle and 500cd/m2 brightness.

The complete panel PC unit measures 390 x 328 x 90mm depth.

For the larger, 15in panel, resolution is 1024 x 768, viewing angle 160 degrees and brightness 350cd/m2, within outside dimensions of 402 x 320 x 90mm.

All units are delivered assembled in a metal case, with panel mount and VESA fixings.
