Trident is introducing a medical monitor range following its extended agreement with Planar Systems, allowing it to deliver focused, design-in-distributor services to medical equipment developers.

First, the Planar Dome CX series of flat panel monitors are featured for digital radiography and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) applications.

Available in 2, 3 or 5Mpixel versions, with high contrast ratio, 700cd/m2 luminance and a wide, 170 degrees viewing angle, the CX-series delivers exceptionally clear images, to communicate information to medical specialists.

The Dome CX series also features accelerated hardware rotation for portrait or landscape mode.

The CX-series comprises the 19in C2i with 2Mpixel resolution, the 20.8in C3i with 3Mpixel, and the 21.3in C5i with 5Mpixel.

Each model features long-lasting AMLCD (active-matrix liquid crystal display) technology, and is also calibrated to the DICOM response curve.

An embedded RightLight sensor provides continuous luminance stability, and ensures adherence to DICOM standards.

This sensor works with a digital interface board built into the display, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming "hands-on" calibration.

CX display systems are available in single or dual-head versions, and are compatible with Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Solaris operating systems.

The second new series to be introduced by Trident is the Planar Dome QX family, ideal for referrals and secondary review of CT, MR, nuclear and ultrasound images.

The QX concept delivers a cost-effective 1200 x 1600pixel greyscale flat panel that can display images in portrait or landscape mode.

Viewing characteristics include 2Mpixel resolution, high luminance of 700cd/m2, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 170 degrees viewing angle and a greyscale range of 766 shades.

The 20.1in AMLCD screen will not degrade over time, and single- or dual-screen versions are available.

Comprehensive peripheral interfaces include a built-in USB hub as well as a DVI connector.

The QX-series is DICOM calibrated, and is compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.

Dome CXtra DICOM calibration software is also provided.

By agreeing to support monitors developed by Planar Systems' Medical Business Unit, Trident is able to bring its design skills, which have enabled developers to solve many industrial, retail, scientific and computing display challenges, to enable new generations of convenient and powerful medical imaging solutions.
