The organisers of the TCT Conference and Exhibition have announced that the event in 2001 will be held at the Manchester International Convention Centre (MICC)/G-Mex Centre, Manchester, UK

The organisers of the TCT Conference and Exhibition are proud to announce that the event in 2001 will be held at the Manchester International Convention Centre (MICC)/G-Mex Centre, Manchester, UK, and potentially will remain there for the next three years.

Christopher Young, Managing Director of Rapid News Publications commented, "We decided that TCT 2001 should be centred in a major regional centre for the first time, and we were also keen to provide some geographical continuity for TCT in the medium and long term.

Due to its growth over the past few years, it is important to provide the TCT event with a venue that allows it to continue to grow without an immediate need to relocate.

While the venue for TCT 2000 in Cardiff was of extremely high quality, the location was not ideal".

Mark Blezard, Director, added, "To date, the TCT exhibition has been primarily serviced by the hard core of exceptionally high quality conference attendees.

With its growth into the leading design engineering exhibition in the UK, we now need to accommodate the ever increasing number of exhibition attendees that we are vigorously attempting to attract.

The accessible Manchester location will facilitate the ease of attendance of this increased audience".

TCT 2001 is the premier European forum for all aspects of rapid product development, which is the single most important factor affecting the long-term prospects of companies operating in the manufacturing sector.

This year's event takes place 26-27 September, and again this is set to continue for the next three years.

The focus of TCT 2001 is on providing conference delegates and visitors to the exhibition with a two day all encompassing event ensuring that time away from the office for all attendees is kept to a minimum.

New for this year will be two introductory, hour long master-classes, which will take place on the evening of 25th September.

The master-classes will be led by experts in the field of Rapid Prototyping Processes and Rapid Prototyping Applications, and will offer attendees a vault of information for becoming familiar with the current technologies and processes available, using real industrial examples.

The Conference organisers are also proud to welcome back Phil Hanson, Principal, IBM Consulting UK, for his sixth year as Chairman of the main conference.

The Conference programme will be diverse and as a result will once again be covered in two streams, but for 2001, the programme will be more user friendly for all delegates, as each of the 40 papers will be highlighted in terms of their interest for beginner, intermediate, and expert delegates.

The aim being for the programme to facilitate delegates to be able to slip-stream themselves and choose the papers that are most applicable to their level of experience - thereby making the most of their time.

Some of the papers that have already been scheduled on the TCT 2001 conference programme include: Fluid Dynamic Development at Volvo Car Coporation, Volvo; Virtual Prototyping or Rapid Prototyping for Tableware Design Evaluation, Staffordshire University; Rapid Prototyping at the Edge and Beyond, Ethicon Endosurgery; Ford Motorsport's use of the Virtual Prototyping Environment and Technology Transfer, Ford Motorsport; Pre-production of Over-Moulded Electrical Components, PDR, Waldon; Bigger, Faster, Better - Digital Mock-up and its Advantages, Bertrandt.

There are no sales papers presented at TCT.

Approximately 100 exhibitors will be at TCT 2001, with a continually increasing number of delegates from countless leading manufacturing companies primarily from the UK, continental Europe, and the United States.

Chris Young further commented "Various centres have become synonymous with different shows over the years.

For example, all will be aware that Birmingham in October/November is the place to go for the traditional Manufacturing Week show.

By promoting TCT as a Manchester-based event, and by actively liasing with numerous related institutions as we are, we expect that September in Manchester will become the place to be for anyone interested in fast design engineering processes".

TCT is a critical event for any company that is looking to reduce its costs or lead times at any stage of the design and manufacturing process.

The event - which is supported by the DTI and leading trade bodies - will enable delegates and visitors to learn about the latest developments in time-compression technologies and products AND find the necessary suppliers and primary service providers quickly and easily.
