Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
The rapid manufacturing (RM) conference will focus on actual applications of RM from the global marketplace, however, this year's programme will go one step further and will also address the real issues of implementation: facts, not theory.
Joe Ferry, Head of Design at Virgin Atlantic will deliver the keynote address on the opening day of the conference, which will focus on the importance of today's design engineers embracing new and forward-thinking technologies such as RM.
Other leading industry figures to present papers include: Geoff McFarland, Renishaw; Terry Wohlers, Wohlers Associates; Dan Johns, Airbus UK; and Tim Steward, Contour Premium Aircraft Seating.
A panel session will be held at the start of day two, featuring some of the most notable experts from the RM industry, giving delegates the opportunity to openly discuss pertinent issues that they would like addressed.
Another new addition for 2007 is the pre-conference tutorial "The Digital Age", which has been designed for anyone not familiar with RM technologies.
Hosted by Graham Tromans, Chairman RPMA Loughborough University, this 90 minute session starts at a basic rapid prototyping orientation level, maps out the next logical steps to RM, discusses what RM actually means, the systems in the marketplace that offer RM, and why it is, and must be, a serious consideration for industry.
This pre-conference tutorial is free to all conference delegates and is being held the evening before the conference on the 25th September at 7.30pm in the conference headquarters hotel, the Hilton Coventry.
The full two-day delegate package includes all refreshments, lunches, delegate folder, proceedings, pre-conference tutorial and special invitation to the evening reception being held at Hilton Coventry.
