Flowmeter suits large-diameter pipes

Titan Enterprises has introduced an insertion turbine flow measurement system for installation in larger diameter pipelines.

Titan Enterprises has introduced an insertion turbine flow measurement system for installation in larger diameter pipelines This robust insertion turbine combines proven technology with modern materials and design, producing an inexpensive metering system suitable for retrofit in permanent installations, or for portable use at various metering locations, in 40-900mm diameter pipelines

Installation from the side of the flow line is done via a 1.5in BSP or NPT fitting, and versions are available for 'hot-tap' insertion into pressurised lines.

The turbine has a radial-type rotating element, sometimes referred to as an undershot water wheel, which rotates freely on graphite/PTFE impregnated Peek bearings, and has aerofoil-shaped blades to extend the dynamic range of the meter.

The specially contoured housing further improves the meter linearity, particularly at lower fluid velocities.

The meter contains two styles of electrical sensor output.

The body is manufactured from AISI316 stainless steel and as standard is supplied with three metres of five-core screened instrument cable.

All the electronic displays from the Metra-flo range are offered for use with the sensor, providing display, totalisation or batch control.

These can be mounted directly onto the meter, via a mounting stalk: Metra-view and Metra-Smart can be self powered, permitting their use in remote areas or for portable use, whereas Metra-batch requires an external power source.

Due to the relatively small disturbance the metering head introduces to the pipe, pressure losses for this type of flowmeter are very low, making energy savings by reducing pumping costs.

Typical applications are in water distribution mains, fire hydrant monitoring, boiler feed measurement, irrigation systems, district heating and HVAC systems. Request a free brochure from Titan Enterprises ...
