Small power relay suits photovoltaic inverters

A Tyco Electronics - Crompton Electric Motors product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 15, 2006

An innovative, small size power relay for use in photovoltaic inverters is the latest product development from Tyco Electronics for modern photovoltaic systems

The PCFN power relays enable the smooth supply of solar power to the network.

In case of an emergency the devices cut the feed between the photovoltaic system and the national grid, as demanded by today's security regulations.

New PCFN power relays feature very low 200mW hold power, 1.5W coil power, a contact gap of 1.5mm and 26A rated current.

Requiring just 510mm PCB space, new PCFN devices benefit from one pole, one N/O contact, are designed for an operating temperature range from -25 up 75C (up to 85C at 22A) and are fully RoHS compliant.

The new PCFN power relay is a good example how a classic electromechanical product can become part of a new technology based on its technical benefits.
