New from Total Motion Systems are the Mind B and Mind T series stepper drives manufactured by RTA Italy.

New from Total Motion Systems (TMS) are the Mind B and Mind T series stepper drives manufactured by RTA Italy These are bipolar drives suitable for driving two phase stepping motors with four, six or eight leads

The Mind drives are housed in a metallic box measuring 180 x 173 x 53mm and are suitable for wall mounting.

They require a single DC power supply voltage and do not need external cooling fans.

Each of the Mind B and Mind T series has three power variants, covering a range of phase currents from 4.5 to 12.0A/phase (peak), with nominal supply voltages from 55 to 180V DC.

Eight step resolutions from 400 to 4000step/rev can be user selected.

The drives incorporate a high efficiency chopper circuit with MOSFET final stage output.

Common to both series is an electronic resonance damping facility to ensure low acoustic noise and reduced motor mechanical vibrations.

There is automatic current reduction at standstill, and protection against over and undervoltage, motor output short circuit and overheating.

The Mind B series require external control signals and have optically isolated inputs for step, direction and energise signals.

There is also a fault output signal available.

The Mind T has an onboard programmable motion controller.

Communication is via RS232 or RS485 and when using the latter, up to 48 drives can be connected on a single serial line.

The drives can be programmed in relative or absolute mode.

Up to 16 previously stored programs can be selected through hardware inputs, allowing the Mind T to be used as a stand-alone unit.
