With an operating temperature range of -20 to +50C, it operates in harsh environments with a wide temperature range.
A casing made of GE Xenoy makes it one of the most durable, chemical-resistant handheld computers available on the market today.
"In addition to its high performance, the Jett.XL was designed to operate in harsh environments", states Rickards.
"It is an ideal solution to meet the complex and varied requirements of a wide range of data-intensive applications where rugged handheld mobile computers are needed such as: fleet management, mobile payment, transportation, field service, meter reading, time and attendance, emergency vehicles, machine control, and inventory control".
The Jett.XL comes standard with both 802.11b and Bluetooth.
In addition to a USB port offering operation as host or client, the unit offers a choice of RS232, RS485 and RS422 serial interfaces.
For wide area networking, WWAN/GPRS are optionally available.
A backlit keypad allows users to operate the keypad in total darkness, while a brilliant 320 x 240 sunlight readable touch screen allows for daytime use in high-glare areas.
Operating from a high capacity NiMH rechargeable battery or six AA batteries with no adapter, units provide seamless power with up to eight hours of operating life.
The Jett.XL provides 64Mbyte of SDRAM, and 128Mbyte of secure internal memory as standard.
The Jett.XL customisation options include case colour, protective bumpers, keypad, logo tag, serial tag, and cables.
Units are also offered with a range of peripherals, including barcode scanners, RFID, and network cards, as well as software packages ranging from terminal emulators through to integrated mobile device management.
