Amir Power Transmission (APT)will now supply Toshiba inverters with its variable speed gearmotor packages.

Effective logistics are expected to enable UK drive systems specialist Amir Power Transmission (APT), which will now supply Toshiba inverters with its variable speed gearmotor packages, to grow its variable speed business markedly over the next 12 months.

The inverters will be supplied by Toshiba1s European Strategic Partner, TM Automation from its UK headquarters in Hayes, Middlesex.

Previously sourcing Toshiba drives direct from Kasuga in Japan, Amir1s Sales and Marketing Director Saheed Khodadoost says: "The supply lines from Japan into our Hemel Hempstead HQ and out to our national branch network were long and therefore inefficient, especially for applications where extra support was needed.

But TM holds comprehensive stocks and we have developed an instant rapport with them, so supply through to our customers is practically seamless.

With this new arrangement in place we plan to double our three-phase drives business and add 15-20 per cent to single-phase sales very quickly." With a turnover approaching ?5m, Amir1s specialism in variable speed technology is built upon expertise not only of inverter systems, but also of DC, eddie current and mechanical solutions.

It supplies to OEMs and end users though its head office, plus branches in Dewesbury, Litchfield, and Glasgow and has a thriving re-export business.

The agreement with Amir will help TM in its plan to expand its national coverage so that it can promote Toshiba1s continuous innovations to the UK manufacturing sector as rapidly as possible.

For instance, Amir will supply the new Toshiba P7 pump and fan drive, shown for the first time at this year1s Hanover Fair.

This is available in sizes from 18.5kW to 315kW, is very compact yet is loaded with state of the art technology features.

Speaking for TM, Robert Garrick says: "We will provide technical support for Amir and its customers from Hayes, and also from our new Technology Centre in West Bromwich.

Toshiba is always developing its products, so we are careful to select partner companies that have the ability and commitment keep themselves and their customers at the leading edge of technology.".
