Europe-specific developments for SCARA robots

A TM Robotics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 4, 2001

TM Robotics has released a new Profibus system, aimed at the European market, which operates with its existing range of SCARA robots, and has expanded its European distribution

TM Robotics (Europe) has announced that K-Robotix will be distributing its range of Toshiba Machine robots throughout Germany.

K-Robotix is located in Bremen and was formed on the 1st of July this year to provide a close and comprehensive service to the German market.

The company will supply an extensive and exclusive range of industrial robots to meet the customers varied requirements.

To complement this relationship TM Robotics has released a new Profibus system, aimed at the European market, which operates with its existing range of SCARA robots.

This new network interface connects to the Toshiba SR7000 controller.

The Profibus interface is designed for analogue, digital, and serial input/output (I/O) modules.

It can be attached to an existing Profibus network, built into an independent control network or used with a PC or industrial controller that can be directly connected to the Profibus brain using a crossover cable.

The system can be used as an inspection device to classify products with tiny differences into separate groups.

For instance, a Toshiba SR-654HSP robot could pick up individual cylindrical pins and divide them into two groups according to size.

Then results are then fed to the robot's controller via a Profibus interface, and it places the pins according to size.

In such applications, the SR7000 controller simultaneously sends the diameter value to a PC via the Profibus interface and its value is then displayed on the display screen.

In addition, the on screen display shows the amount of pins in the two groups, the quality of the goods and the quantity of no good goods, as well as its percentage.

The Laser Sensor is also provided with its own private display unit so that the user can check the measured data against this display and the value on the PC's screen.

An embedded Windows CE I/F card could also be used to connect to Ethernet network.
