Tera Analysis improves Quickfield software

A Tera Analysis product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 23, 2008

Tera Analysis announces the release of version 5.6 of the finite-element simulation software Quickfield.

New features include expanded analysis capabilities for non-linear magnetics, improved visualisation of the calculated circuit parameters, possibility of running unattended sessions of the parametric analysis, and simplified setup of site and network licenses.

Quickfield 5.6 introduces a new formulation that allows AC Harmonic Magnetic problems to be solved for soft magnetic materials with saturation and automatically recalculates the saturation curves of the materials.

This approach is much faster than the full-scale Transient Magnetic analysis, which was the only option for time-harmonic problems with soft magnetic materials in the previous versions of Quickfield.

Quickfield 5.6 also has more possibilities for simulation of models with non-linear media properties.

These types of analysis are heavily dependent on the non-linear material properties definition.

The curve editor (used to enter and edit non-linear material properties) now allows the user to: resize the editor window with the mouse automatically, saving its size and position for future use; enter and edit the table data in-place; exchange (copy/paste) table data between the table and the clipboard; delete or copy individual table rows and/or graph points; print the picture, copy it to the clipboard, or save it to a file; and view both the original and the recalculated curves for AC Magnetic problems.

Labelmover, which is included in all distribution kits of Quickfield, also features new enhancements.

With the command-line switch, users can run Labelmover in unattended mode.

This allows carrying out of time-consuming optimisation tasks automatically, round the clock or in preset time without operator intervention.

Labelmover can now add new values to the already performed parametric analysis session, extracting the new values from existing solutions, not resolving them.

Taking into account that parametric analysis may include hundreds of individual problems, this possibility may save hours or days and improve productivity.

Results of the Labelmover parametric analysis may now be saved to a text file for various purposes, including further use in other applications.

These and other improvements are now available in Professional, Lite and Student's versions of Quickfield.
