New structure prepares for global growth
The TTE Technical Training Group, the UK's largest employer-led technical training organisation, has restructured its global operations to meet its rapid programme of growth.
The TTE Technical Training Group, the UK's largest employer-led technical training organisation, has restructured its global operations to meet its rapid programme of growth.
Formerly known as TTE Management and Technical Training, the group has been rebranded to further reflect its growing reputation in global training markets.
The developments within the TTE Technical Training Group will allow its current and potential customers, partners, stakeholders and suppliers to clearly differentiate between its commercial operations and its charitable status-held apprenticeship programmes.
With a turnover growing to $30 million and employing 200 people, the TTE Technical Training Group has, in 15 years, expanded out of the former ICI and British Steel training departments into a leading provider of technical training in the oil and gas, engineering and process sectors both in the UK and overseas.
As a major provider of UK apprenticeship training for 16- to 21-year-olds, TTE operates a unique partnership between its commercial and apprenticeship operations.
Profits from TTE's commercial business are reinvested in its apprenticeship programmes to supplement government funding.
With changes in funding meaning a reduction in government support for 19-plus apprentices, an effective and profitable commercial operation is becoming even more important.
The TTE Technical Training Group's apprenticeship programmes provide motivated young people from the North East and across the UK with relevant skills and experience.
Designed to meet the requirements of employers from across industry, TTE's training delivers employers a safe, talented and skilled workforce.
The continuing challenge to bridge current and future skills gaps through apprenticeship training is at the heart of the TTE Technical Training Group's strategic development.
TTE is expanding its portfolio of UK and international technical training contracts with respected businesses including BP and Shell to bolster the funding of its apprenticeship programmes.
Already the TTE Technical Training Group's quality technical training experience is being felt around the world.
In addition to established presences and relationships in the Middle East and Africa, TTE holds the "jewel in the crown" of technical training contracts in Baku, Azerbaijan.
As part of a joint venture agreement with facilities management specialists Petrofac, TTE is charged with training 1000 Azerbaijani technicians over five years for BP and its partners' Production Sharing Agreements in the Caspian Sea.
The Baku-based joint venture included the design, construction and operation of the Caspian Technical Training Centre, which has been hailed by BP as one of the most advanced sector-specific training facilities in the world.
Keith Hunter, Managing Director of The TTE Technical Training Group, said: "By restructuring the TTE group this business can better meet the ever-increasing demand for skilled technicians from global industry".
"The discovery and development of new oil and gas reserves has heightened the need for existing and new workforces to be able to achieve new skills and demonstrate competency, which presents exciting prospects for TTE".
Hunter added: "To fulfil our ethos of TTE as 'global company, local charity', the profits from our commercial endeavours from across the world will continue to be reinvested in our apprenticeship programmes, which hold charitable status".
"To achieve this aim we are continuing to develop relationships with UK and international companies to allow TTE, through apprenticeships, to maintain its commitment to bridging the skills gap that exists in industry".
