Corus signs for bespoke safety training

The TTE Technical Training Group has been awarded a major national contract by Corus to deliver bespoke Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH) qualifications.

The TTE Technical Training Group has been awarded a major national contract by Corus to deliver bespoke Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH) qualifications.

This significant contract provides access for TTE to train Corus personnel working across the group's UK operations.

TTE has developed two specially designed training programmes: "Managing Safely" and "Working Safely", which are accredited by IOSH and specific and relevant to Corus operations in the UK.

IOSH Managing Safely is a bespoke course designed to ensure individuals required to manage safety within the Corus will do so in compliance with the company's health and safety standards, best practice and current legislation.

The programme focuses on specific areas of safety including management and monitoring systems, risk assessment and audits, legislation, management of contractors, leadership and competence.

The programme comprises of nine core modules, which incorporates the Corus eight key principles of health and safety and 13 health and safety (HSS) standards.

Prior to the awarding of this contract TTE had devised a specific programme with Corus operations on Teesside to deliver training based on the group's eight key principles of safety.

This site-specific programme presented TTE with the opportunity to develop these two training courses.

The second programme: "Working Safely", is designed for any member of staff working within the Corus who may have no supervisory or managerial responsibility.

It provides a solid grounding in the essentials of health and safety and the reasons why it is important for employees to have a strong understanding of the issues.
