Training alliance sets sites on simulator
TTE's custom-built Prosimm, will replicate the operations of a chemical and process plant control room for emergency response training.
The TTE Technical Training Group and the Centre for the Assessment of Technical Competence - Humber (CATCH) have formed an alliance to build and operate a specialist process industry training simulator.
TTE's custom-built Prosimm, will replicate the operations of a chemical and process plant control room for emergency response training.
Using powerful, dynamic software and technology currently used in chemical and process plants, Prosimm will deliver interactive, practical training and assessment.
The simulator will feature touch-screen keypads, networked and individual workstations, a sound system and CCTV cameras to heighten the sense of realism for trainees.
Prosimm at CATCH courses will be delivered in a real-time environment to allow individuals to learn from an interactive experience under controlled conditions.
This approach ensures operators and control room personnel possess the technical competence, confidence and knowledge to react effectively in the event of an incident.
Operated by TTE's professional process industry specialists, the facility will be able to accommodate courses from introductory level through to incident control and emergency response.
Designed to help meet the skills challenges in the process and chemical industries, Prosimm at CATCH will support the range of training facilities on offer at the centre.
CATCH, which is based in Stallingborough, North East Lincolnshire, works in collaboration with industry and training providers to offer sector-specific training environments.
Through CATCH businesses can outsource their training requirements to gain full access to process industry-related facilities as well as workshops and classrooms.
As the UK's largest independent employer-led training provider, The TTE Technical Training Group is perfectly placed to design, build and operate this new simulator.
The company, which has training centres in the North East, Scotland and Azerbaijan, already operates a successful Distributed Control System (DCS) simulator at its base in Middlesbrough.
Phil Blewitt, The TTE Technical Training Group's Commercial Business Director, said: "Introducing our DCS simulator to CATCH will be a major boost to training resources available to the UK chemical and process industries".
"Prosimm's operation mirrors the latest technology used in plants across the world".
"TTE's close relationship with industry ensures the training programmes are continually updated, refreshed and relevant to ensure skilled and competent technicians are delivered to employers".
Clive Rounce, General Manager of CATCH, said: "Our aim is to provide employers and training providers with a comprehensive range of skills solutions for the chemical and process industries".
"From the outset, local industries indicated a need for process simulation capability at CATCH alongside the authentic plant environment".
"Working with TTE we will be able to deliver exactly what they want".
"For many companies the major advantage in using Prosimm at CATCH will be to allow emergency incident teams and control room operators to experience and test internal procedures in a simulated live incident, resulting in a totally integrated and co-ordinated response".
