The steel strengthening strip in a complex architectural aluminium extrusion is being held in place by a blind rivet nut which also provides a deep reusable thread for fixing panelling or hinges.

The steel strengthening strip in a complex architectural aluminium extrusion is being held in place by a blind rivet nut which also provides a deep reusable thread for fixing panelling or hinges This is an excellent example of fixing two different materials using a blind rivet nut, by a very economic production method, which eliminates at least one manufacturing operation

Being applied without heat or other adhesives means the decorative powder coat surface finish and the insulation section remains intact, grip being provided as the controlled upset of the rivet nut shank draws the materials together.

Blind Rivet Nuts are available in a wide range of materials with most metric and imperial thread forms.

Rivet nut materials include aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel; closed end versions will also prevent ingress of foreign materials on such as this complex extrusion.

Blind rivet nuts are also available which can be used safely with plastics, even perspex.
