The new blind bolt and nut from fastener specialist Torque Control of Cheltenham provides a simple sturdy way of fixing where access is limited to only one side.

The novelty is that rotating the bolt through 180 degrees causes a retaining piece or anchor, to drop which prevents the bolt from being withdrawn.

Furthermore a "keyway" cut along the bolt enables the retaining anchor to be brought into play or retracted at will.

This allows the blind bolt to be used in vertical applications such as on suspended ceilings and roof trusses.

When used to attach a part, fixing is simplicity itself, the blind bolt is inserted through a normal clearance hole in both parts and the retaining piece activated by either turning through 180 degrees, or by using the keyway.

The parts can then be tighten up.

A clear advantage over spring-loaded devices is the ability to withdraw the blind bolt using the keyway to retract the anchor.

The blind bolt is then re-usable.

Also available as hook or eye bolts, in high tensile steel, galvanised or zinc passivated and stainless steel threads range from M8 to M24 threads.

Applications include roofing, box girders, hand rails, tubular structures.
