Sheet metal joints with threads solve problems

A Torque Control product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 18, 2003

Blind rivet nuts can be used to crimp together two sheets of material and provide a re-usable thread.

Blind rivet nuts can be used to crimp together two sheets of material and provide a re-usable thread.

Grip is provided as the controlled upset of the rivet nut shank draws the materials together.

The rivet nut thus joins the materials and provides a threaded anchor point for a second component.

The same grip prevents rotation of the rivet to form a reusable deep thread.

A particularly useful application is in fastening parts to frameworks of tube or angle which subsequently has covering panels attached.

Blind rivet nuts are also available which can be used safely with plastics.

All are simple to install using hand or power tools.

Engineers at Torque Control are also available for technical and applications advice on all aspects of blind rivet nuts and tools.
