Flow meter systems specialist Torbar has developed a package for liquid, air and gas flow measurement in pipelines and ducts for a wide range of industrial, commercial and research applications.

These include air and water flow measurement on water treatment plants, product testing, balancing of air conditioning systems and monitoring the useage and leakage of compressed air.

Heart of the system is the Torbar averaging pitot tube flow measuring element that is easy to install, and remove, and provides a true averaging of the velocity profile.

Available for pipe diameters from 15 to 500mm, the device is said to have much lower installation cost and pressure loss than other systems such as orifice plates.

The package is available with local flow indicators or low cost flow transmitters, to form complete flow measurement systems, and is supplied together with all necessary valves, connectors and tubing.

The transmitters are small, low cost, cylindrical stainless steel units giving an output of 4-20mA linear to flow, are powered from a two-wire DC voltage loop, and are capable of withstanding high line pressure while measuring differential pressures (DP) to an accuracy of +/-0.5% full scale.

To ensure optimum performance the systems use specially designed stainless steel valves and rigid engineering plastics to ensure that all wetted parts are corrosion resistant.
