Toolcraft Plastics has designed and manufactured a 16-impression mould tool with removable inserts in just 8 weeks to enable a client to keep ahead in an economy battle with foreign manufacturers.

Forced by instrumentation technology to change to stepper motors, and all associated small parts such as bosses, pointers, ferrules and masks etc, the opportunity was taken to make economies on these small parts production through this very versatile tool.

By having more than one insert for each part, ringing the changes enables Toolcraft to match production quantities of each more accurately to requirements, yet retain the economy of volume.

Parts are small, hence tool tolerances tight, but none more than the pointer bosses, which originally fitted a taper shaft, but now must push fit onto the slender 0.5mm parallel shaft.
