European project bears fruit at MACH

MACH 2006 will see TQC and the Precision Manufacturing Group from the University of Nottingham show the first results of the E-Race European project.
Development partners TQC and the Precision Manufacturing Group (PMG) at the University of Nottingham, with be attending the 5-day MACH exhibition (15th to 19th May 2006) at the NEC in Birmingham to show the results of the E-Race European project for the first time.
The 4 year project has developed "A collaborative e-space for the manufacture of reconfigurable assembly cells", or in engineering terms, a website that helps in the development of automatic assembly equipment.
This project looks from the sides of the customers, system intergrators and suppliers, to allow a common ground when defining automated assembly procedures and processes.
Associates from TQC and PMG will be presenting the website on the BARA Village Stand in Hall 5, practical demonstrations showing the work to date with be on show throughout the week.
The E-Race project has 23 members from four European countries.
Research Partners include VTT Manufacturing Technology, Helsinki, Finland, Tampere University of Technology (TUT), The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH) and Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) Industrial Partners include Bespak, Desoutter Sales, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Riley Automation and System Devices, with two supporting partners, The British Automation and Robot Association and the Electronics-Enables Products Knowledge-Transfer Network (grew out of PRIME Faraday) helping with exposure of the project.
