Specialist engineering service provider, Roxby Services, has become the latest North-East company to join the Tees Valley Engineering Partnership.
Specialist engineering service provider, Roxby Services, has become the latest North-East company to join the Tees Valley Engineering Partnership.
The Middlesbrough-based firm will now join the partnership's growing membership of more than 30 engineering companies, who are currently working collaboratively to promote the region as an area of world-class engineering capability.
Roxby is a well known name in the engineering world, with more than 40 years heritage in the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors.
The dynamic company, which offers a comprehensive range of specialist engineering services including training and facilities management, has joined the TVEP in an effort to help ensure the sector has a sustainable and successful future.
Following a period of company restructuring, Roxby Services has also appointed a new Group Sales Manager to help market its Plant Integrity and Diagnostics division and maintain the firm's ongoing commitment to the North-East region.
Francis Harkin, 41, will now be based at Roxby Service's offices in Teesport Commerce Park, where he will work full-time to promote the company's extensive and innovative range of inspection services, which are designed to identify and diagnose potential process problems quickly and efficiently.
Harkin, who gained an HND fabrication and welding engineering qualification from the University of Teesside, initially began his professional career as a welding engineer at Middlesbrough-based firm QA Weld Tech.
Since then, he has been employed in a number of managerial roles, working for national and international organisations, including Noreast Services and Pipelines (NSP) and its sister company Autoweld Systems (AWS).
During his time at AWS, Harkin was instrumental in helping the company to become the first to sell Automatic welding equipment into China and even spent 12 months living in the Far-East to ensure the company's success was maintained.
This success earned him regional and national recognition and in 2002 he was named Individual Sales Exporter of the Year at the International Business Awards and won the Innovation in Export Individual Achievement Award, from the North East Chamber of Commerce.
Harkin returned to the North-East full-time in early 2004 and currently lives in Eaglescliffe with this wife Nicola.
Said Harkin: "After beginning my professional career in the North-East, I was keen to return and play my part in the engineering industry's future".
"I am now looking forward to a rewarding career at Roxby Services and a mutually beneficial relationship with the TVEP".
Malcolm Potter, Manager of the Tees Valley Engineering Partnership, said: "The Tees Valley Engineering Partnership is all about driving the local engineering sector forward and ensuring it remains a competitive and profitable industry in the long-term".
"Roxby Services has recently undergone its own period of rejuvenation and has now re-emerged as a dynamic and innovative business, which shares a forward-thinking and positive outlook, with the TVEP's existing members".
"I have no doubt that Roxby Services will be a valuable addition to the TVEP's membership and I look forward to working with Francis in the future".
