Automatic wheel changing on grinding machine
Developed for grinding cutting tools and components, the latest Schutte WU 305 five-axis universal tool and production grinding machine is equipped with an automatic wheel changing system
In the MV2, X-axis traverse is 500 mm as standard but can be increased to 1,500 mm by removing a bulkhead panel in the guarding.
The Y-axis is 300 mm and vertical Z-axis 350 mm on both machines.
A 5 kW AC spindle with ISO 40 taper has an infinitely variable speed range up to 10,000 revs/min.
However, a 12,000 revs/min spindle option is available and up to 30 bar through the spindle coolant pressure can be specified.
Feed rates are up to 12 m/min with rapid traverse rate extremely quick for a travelling column design at 40 m/min.
Supplied from a 20 tool magazine carried on the column and able to accept tool diameters up to 63 mm diameter by 200 mm long, tool exchange can be carried out within 0.8 secs and takes just 2 secs in total chip to chip time.
