Laser encoder provides long-range positioning

A TR Controls product story

TR Electronic has developed a new laser measuring encoder, the LE 200, to give accurate noncontact measurement for distances up to 200m.

Typical applications for optical systems are, for example, distance measurements for the location and positioning of: shelf and lifting equipment control devices in automated warehouse installations; stackers; automated governed vehicles (AGV) such as fork lift trucks; and transfer machines such as cranes and gantries.

The LE-200 system features a short integration time.

The calculation of new measurement values occurs in the shortest possible time.

This is a prerequisite in order to provide rapid position changes in automatic control loops.

The system produces an absolute measurement value that negates having to mechanically "home" equipment at "power on" after a loss of power.

Its 200 x 200mm reflector is sufficient for distances up to 200m, and the use of a visible red light laser saves time by making line-up and alignment to the reflector a simple task.

The LE-200 is compatible with optical data coupling devices, and can be supplied with SSI, Interbus-S, Profibus-DP, FIPIO and CANOpen interfaces to suit system requirements.
