Cab mount damps vibration off road

Volvo Construction Equipment has used the new TrellExtreme MDS cab mount from Trelleborg Industrial AVS in its recently launched EC55 compact excavator.

Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) has chosen the new TrellExtreme MDS cab mount from Trelleborg Industrial AVS (formerly Metalastik and Novibra) for its recently launched EC55 compact excavator.

The TrellExtreme MDS (multidirectional snubbing) mounting is designed specifically for the off-highway industry.

It provides vibration isolation and maintains stability even under high shock loads in the engines and cabs of off-highway vehicles including small to medium excavators, skid steer loaders and compactors.

Installed in pairs via a two-part, single-bolt installation, it will withstand high dynamic shock loads, while limiting movement in all directions.

Safety and comfort are major features of the EC55, which has rollover protection (ROPS), air-conditioning as standard and a hydraulic control lock that neutralises the machine when the operator's armrest is raised.

The spacious, ergonomic cab provides a high operating position and uninterrupted, all-round vision as well as exceptional levels of comfort and fittings.

The EC55 is powered by a 2.8 litre, 52hp direct injection diesel delivering 2200rev/min and two separate travel speeds.

It has an operating weight of 4912kg and a digging depth of approximately 3.8m.

The TrellExtreme MDS mount is designed for maximum vertical dynamic snubbing from +/-6mm and horizontal dynamic snubbing from +/-3mm.

The standard range accommodates static vertical loads from 70 to 200kg.

with a nominal static deflection of 2.5mm and axial to radial stiffness ratio of 1.5:1.
