Only 10mm in diameter, the Portescap R10 family of planetary gearboxes is available in a choice of six ratios between 4:1 and 4096:1 as well as non-standard ratios

Now available from Trident Engineering is the Portescap R10 family of planetary gearboxes Only 10mm in diameter these new gearboxes are available in a choice of six ratios between 4:1 and 4096:1

Non-standard ratios can also be supplied.

All models supply a continuous torque rating of 100 mNm, an exceptional figure for a product of this size.

Gearbox length varies depending upon the number of stages configured.

Single-stage units are just 9mm long and have an efficiency of 90%, while six-stage versions are 26.5mm long with an efficiency of 50%.

An ideal complement for Portescap's recently introduced 08G series of ironless 8mm diameter motors and for the P010 disc magnet stepping motors, also available from Trident, these new gearboxes simply snap into place on the motor.

This produces a compact, yet powerful, drive unit highly suitable for a wide range of applications including peristaltic and infusion pumps, semiconductor manufacturing plant and security systems.

Lightweight and robust with the single-stage versions weighing only 3 grammes, the R10 range combines long life with almost silent operation.

The planetary design allows shaft input speeds of up to 10,000 rpm, while the precision-cut gears provide exceptionally low backlash.

Bi-directional, the R10 has an operating temperature range of -30C to +65C.

They are also suitable for intermittent operation at up to 150% of their continuous maximum torque rating.

Ball bearing versions, with metal covers, are also available.
