The environmental wall was manufactured, designed and installed by industrial partition specialist Troax UK, a member of the Gunnebo Group.

To ensure optimum production line conditions, the enclosure uses Troax Sabre panels, and prevents dust and dirt contamination of part painted car bodies as they pass along an automated conveyor system to a storage area.

From there they are kept until being transported to the final stage of the paint line.

Because the transfer line has a complex layout of conveyors and elevators leading to other levels, Troax designed a 4.5m-high steel structure to enclose the entire line while also allowing turning space and silhouetted exit and entry points.

The enclosure was built using Troax's Sabre range of single skin partitioning, constructed from a durable, pressed metal frame system and finished in a sandstone powder paint finish.

To accommodate the many pipes, ducts and cables in the roof space, a flexible fabric curtain was fitted to the top of the steel wall to provide a tight seal and so further reduce the risk of contamination.

The curtain was supplied by GBR Industries.

Custom-designed sliding and bi-parting doors, based on a combination of steel and glass vision panels from the Sabre range, provide exit points allowing the car bodies to be transferred to the next stage of the production line.

Troax also supplied Honda with a series of mesh storage cages which are being used to store maintenance materials, tools and other high value equipment at the Swindon factory.

The wire mesh cages are constructed from Troaxûs Broadsword modular partitioning range.

Troax carried out a full contract management service for the Honda project, undertaking all aspects of the design, production, installation and commissioning of the environmental wall.

The system was manufactured at the Troax Lee plant in the West Midlands.
