Steel partitioning incorporates sound insulation
Excalibur double-skinned steel partitioning from Troax UK has been used to construct over 400m2 of custom-designed production facilities for Morgan Advanced Ceramics.
High-quality Excalibur double-skinned steel partitioning from Troax UK has been used to construct over 400m2 of custom-designed production facilities for Morgan Advanced Ceramics, a leading supplier of technical ceramics for industrial applications, at its new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Rugby, UK.
Troax's modular, Excalibur steel partitioning was used by contractor Prestige Refurbishments to create an efficient layout for the manufacturing processes used by Morgan Advanced Ceramics, which supplies a wide range of markets including medical, aerospace, defence, electronic, industrial, scientific and semi-conductor processing.
At the new facility, the company processes material from powder form to finished components, die and iso-static pressing, green machining, sintering and a variety of operations such as diamond grinding, lapping and polishing.
It also has a wide range of braze kilns and carries out extensive ceramic and metal assembly operations.
To accommodate much of the equipment used in these processes, 25 different production areas were constructed using the Excalibur partitions, covering around half the area of the plant.
Each area was custom-built to house specific machinery and isolate processes; for example, metrology, glazing and metallising.
This meant that accuracy in the design, layout and construction of the enclosures was critical to ensure that the machinery would fit precisely into the designated space.
The partitioning reaches a height of 2.5m and, in some places, reaches full height into the roof space.
It incorporates some glazed panels as well as veneered timber and double swing doors for easy access.
Troax's Sabre range of single-skinned steel partitioning was also used to create storage areas on the site.
Troax's Excalibur partitioning was particularly suitable for the Morgan Advanced Ceramics project: its design, with steel panels of monobloc construction, comprising two steel skins separated by a composite insulating infill, complies with all relevant health and safety legislation, provides excellent sound and heat insulation and is also half-hour fire rated.
Tom Banks at Prestige Refurbishments comments: "This was a large and complex project so we chose Troax to supply the partitioning as we wanted to be sure that the work would go smoothly and we knew that they would be the most reliable firm to deal with.
"We have worked with them for many years now and they are always extremely professional.
"As usual their service was very good - the partitioning looks excellent and the client is very pleased with the result".
