Anti-collapse safety screens are greatly improved

Industrial safety specialist Troax UK has redesigned its range of anti-collapse wire mesh pallet rack safety screens to offer greater versatility and improved safety at a more competitive price.

This enables it to meet the safety requirements of many more storage applications in warehouses and storage and materials handling environments.

The new Musca anti-collapse pallet rack safety screen system is designed to protect personnel working in warehouses from injury, by preventing items falling from overhead pallet racking.

For the first time, Troax is offering safety screens in three new mesh opening sizes: 25 x 25, 50 x 50 and 100 x 50mm, depending on the type of storage application and the level of security required.

This greater choice of mesh sizes makes Musca a cost-effective and versatile safety screen for a much wider range of products, whatever the load or volume.

The 50 x 50mm mesh size (which replaces the previous 50 x 70mm size) is sturdier, offers greater security and is more aesthetically pleasing than the previous version, while the new 100 x 50mm size is cost-effective for the storage of larger items.

The 25 x 25mm mesh aperture size is specially designed for the storage of aerosols and other flammable, hazardous products, as well as medical products and high-value items such as mobile phones that demand a screen with smaller mesh openings.

In the case of aerosols, this is to prevent the escape of shards of metal in the event of an explosion and for small, high-value items it is simply to prevent items being passed through the mesh apertures.

The method of installation for the new anti-collapse system has also been improved - panels are secured horizontally with nuts and bolts in a brick pattern to ensure a secure installation.

For added flexibility, there are also now two stand-off bracket options: the Economy bracket is available with stand-off dimensions of 50, 100 and 150mm in galvanised steel, while the Ultima bracket is available with stand-off dimensions of 150, 210 and 300mm.

Musca panels are constructed from steel mesh welded to a tubular frame to give optimum strength between wire and tube.

In addition, the panels now incorporate a newly designed central tube to give the panel additional strength while reinforcing and straightening the mesh, offering personnel the highest level of protection from falling products or pallets.

Using wire mesh safety screens offers a number of important advantages: mesh creates a 'translucent' and fully visible environment, it improves ventilation and air circulation, improves lighting of the area and most importantly, allows smoke and heat to filter through to trigger smoke detection systems and allow the effective penetration of sprinkler systems in the event of a fire.
